Wingspan 16 -19 mm.

Flight period July - August

Forewing 1.6 - 1.9 cm . Ground colour of forewings yellow to reddish or purplish brown. Darker centrel zone which contains a dark discal spot and oblique darl streak in apex.Easily disturbed by day

Locally common but less so in than in past years where it was AKA "Aurelian'S Plague"

Habitat: Downlands , dunes .waste ground and lowland meadows
