Heart Urchin (Echinocardium cordatum)

AKA sea Potato

2 " ( 50 mm) long

Short very dense brown spines point backwards which assist burrowing in this urchin. when the Urchin has burrowed down vertically it ploughs its way Forward where it obtains a diet of plant and animal detritis. As with other Urchins Eggs and sperm are librerated into water at breeding times , these Urchins live in Groups
